Dordt in Stoom 2008

Thursday 15th May 2008
With pickups around the M25 we take the Dover/Calais crossing to France. Later we travel onto the hotel Mercure in Dordrecht, our location for the next four nights. For those travelling from the North we can arrange a crossing from Hull and we will collect you from the port in the Netherlands on Friday morning.

Friday 16th May
We will visit the Museum De Cruquius this morning where you will have ample opportunity to see the former steam pumping station with its working beam engines along with a video history of the reclamation of the Netherlands.

Later a trip to the world famous bulb fields of Keukenhof during its last weekend of the Season. It’s not often the trip co-incides with the park opening but this year we are in luck.

Later we check into the hotel for dinner before travelling on to the dockside at Dordrecht for its evening parade of steam.

Saturday 17th May
A full day at the show with the ever popular Day ticket which enables you to travel on all the historic transport throughout the day at this, Europe’s largest steam power event set in one of the oldest historic towns of Holland. No dinner today as the coach will transfer you to the hotel late in the evening.

Sunday 18th May
For anyone who didn’t see enough yesterday, you can have a second day in Dordrecht and we will provide another round ticket. For those who are looking for something else, a trip to the Hoorn to Medemblik Steam railway where there is the opportunity for a trip on the railway, or visit to the engine sheds. Later some free time in Enkhuisen, North Holland’s lovely old fishing capital before travelling across the dyke for the rest of the evening.

Monday 19th May
Homeward bound, this morning a visit to the lovely old pottery town of Delft before transferring into Belgium where we visit to the Bakkersmolen Windmill, built on the site of an 18th century farmhouse with it’s own collection of memorabilia from the past before we catch the evening sailing back to the UK.

Price per person: £395 in a double/twin room. Price includes 4 nights accommodation at the Mercure in Dordrecht, 3 evening meals. 1 lunch at the Bakkersmolen Windmill, all entrances, all transfer by Executive coach.
